How To Maintain Your Toothbrush

If you don’t care for your toothbrush properly, it can become very worn very quickly. It’s unfortunate because a worn, dirty, or ineffective toothbrush can cause your teeth to not be clean every day. Here are some tips to keep your toothbrush clean and in top shape.

How To Clean A Toothbrush

Mix a single teaspoon of about 3% hydrogen peroxide with just one cup of water. Stir the toothbrush for several minutes. After using your toothbrush, make sure it is immersed in water. Give it a shake to get rid of any remaining bacteria. For half an hour, soak your toothbrush in antibacterial toothpaste.

Wash Your Hands Regularly

Many germs lurk in your hands and they just wait for the next object to touch. It is important that you wash your hands after brushing your teeth. Those germs won’t get on your toothbrush if you wash your hands.

Store Your Toothbrush In One Place

Keep your toothbrush separate from other toothbrushes in the restroom. Do your best to avoid touching the bristles. You can avoid germs by giving your brush enough space.

Do Not Dry Your Toothbrush

Before you use your toothbrush again, make sure that the bristles are completely dry. If you have a toothbrush cover you should ensure that the bristles are dry before you apply it. Because bacteria growth can be promoted by a moist environment.

Do Not Share Your Toothbrush

Your toothbrush should be kept to yourself. It is important that you don’t give your toothbrush to anyone, not even family members. It is easy to spread germs between people using a toothbrush and can lead to tooth decay.

These tips will help you keep your toothbrush in top shape. However, you’ll still need to replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months or if the bristles become frayed. You should also throw away your toothbrush if you are ill.
